One team is going for its second straight Super Bowl title and is expected to have Taylor Swift cheering on Travis Kelce from the suites at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday night.
The other is looking for its first championship in 29 years and has Olivia Culpo (Christian McCaffrey’s significant other) as its No. 1 influencer fan.
So what should we expect from Super Bowl 58 when the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers face off in a rematch of the big game from 2020?
Here’s how we see this one shaking out …
Adam Hoge (11-6) — Chiefs 20, 49ers 17
The best unit on either side of the ball is the Chiefs’ defense. And on the other side of the ball, it’s Patrick Mahomes vs Brock Purdy. I have a ton of respect for what Purdy has done early in his career, but I just can’t pick against Mahomes as an underdog.
Nicholas Moreano (8-9) — Chiefs 31, 49ers 28
I want the 49ers to win this game. Mainly because of George Kittle, but how can you go against Patrick Mahomes? Regardless of the players he has around him, and he still has arguably the greatest tight end of all time in Travis Kelce, Mahomes is simply too good to bet against.
Will DeWitt (8-9) — Chiefs 28, 49ers 24
It’s difficult to go against Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs due to all their Super Bowl experience. Kansas City’s defense will be a tough matchup for Brock Purdy. Just ask league MVP Lamar Jackson.
Corey Wootton (9-8) — Chiefs 28, 49ers 21
Coaching matters. Chiefs make adjustments and out game plan Shanahan and the 49ers. Kelce and Mahomes continue their playoff dominance. Defensively they find a way to limit CMC, who is the x factor for them.
Greg Braggs Jr. (10-7) — Chiefs 24, 49ers 17
The Chiefs will always be known for their offense led by Patrick Mahomes. But the defense for Kansas City has been their bedrock this year. Brock Purdy has been great with a loaded 49ers team but the Chiefs defense proved in a win over the Ravens that they can handle a high powered offense. The Chiefs are on a dynasty run and Mahomes is trending towards the GOAT territory already with no signs of stopping any time soon.
Mark Carman (11-6) — Chiefs 27, 49ers 13
Betting against Patrick Mahomes is not going to be this guy. The Chiefs go back-to-back with the goat leading the way — who could have, should have, might have been a… I won’t say it. Mahomes walks aways from Las Vegas Super Bowl 58 with another MVP.
Kevin Kaduk (10-7) — Chiefs 23, 49ers 21
I’m a little wary of siding with everyone who is picking the underdog Chiefs because it seems like an obvious decision, but … it seems like an obvious decision. The Chiefs defense has been stellar all year and, oh yeah, they have someone on track to be the best quarterback of all time and a coach who I think has an argument for best coach of all time. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid capture their third ring.
Jake Flannigan (7-10) – 49ers 34, Chiefs 20
San Francisco finally gets the job done after a 30-year title drought. Kyle Shanahan coached a championship caliber team for three out of the past four seasons, but finally gets revenge against the Chiefs for a Super Bowl LIV loss. This time around it’s Brock Purdy at QB surrounded by a quartet of weapons on offense in Christian McCaffery, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle will offer plenty of scoring. The Niners’ defense will wreak havoc on Patrick Mahomes in a Vegas vacation he’ll want to forget.
