Your break can come when you least expect it, and Thursday night, a pair of young Chicago Blackhawks will get their opportunity to grab roster spots for themselves. Defenseman Nolan Allan draws back in due to a groin injury and IR stint for Alec Martinez, while forward Lukas Reichel will get his first chance this season to add some much-needed offense to a roster lacking in scoring depth.

Allan, who was selected 32nd overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, made his NHL debut in the Blackhawks' season opener in Utah. He only skated 10:06 that night, but aside from one stumble, looked the part of an NHL defenseman.
