After missing Wednesday’s practice due to an illness, Justin Fields returned on Thursday, putting him back on track to start Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although Fields returned to practice, he was missing two of his offensive teammates in David Montgomery (Illness) and Chase Claypool (Knee). The Bears will need everyone they can as they get ready to face one of the best defenses in the NFL on Sunday at Soldier Field.
Before the Bears went on their bye week, Fields did have his best game as a passer this season — throwing for 254 yards on 20 of 25 pass attempts in the loss against the Packers. So it will take that part of his game along with his ability to gain yards on the ground to give Chicago a chance in this contest.
If Fields is able to get 95 rushing yards on Sunday, he will hit the 1,000-yard mark for rushing yards on the season.
“Yeah, no, the one thing that immediately, maybe not immediately, but within that first couple months of being around Justin, you saw the type of guy he was, the type of competitor he was,” offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said. “What kind of a teammate he is. He’s a fighter. He wants to win and he’ll do whatever it takes to win. I think that speaks to the type of teammate he is and what he’ll do for this organization, more than anything else. “
