Instant Reactions: Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs issue the Bears a swift kick to the groin

Welp, that was as unpleasant as a root canal.

A Chicago Bears team in turmoil went down to Kansas City to face the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday and apart from Taylor Swift showing up to root on Travis Kelce, the script went as we all thought.

Final score: Chiefs 41, Bears 10.

Here are our initial thoughts as the Bears fall to 0-3 …

Adam Hoge

Well, at least we saw this coming. If you bought any of the spin that the energy inside Halas Hall was great despite everything that happened this week, then that’s on you. This seems like a huge week coming up at Halas Hall. If they can’t compete with the 0-3 Broncos, then things could spiral out of control quickly — if they aren’t already.

Nicholas Moreano

The Chicago Bears are a terrible football team. There is no other way of saying it. Everything about this organization, especially after this week, is simply bad. The offense couldn’t score. The defense couldn’t stop anything. The team couldn’t prevent themselves from looking like a laughing stock in front of the millions watching at home. The Week 3 blowout to the Chiefs was the cherry on top of an abysmal week for Chicago.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse for the Bears, they wasted no time in proving me wrong. That performance was nothing short of putrid. It’s clear that massive changes are needed at a foundational level before we can even hope for any sort of improvement with this franchise. Until then, it seems like we’re stuck in purgatory.

The Chicago Bears are taking the fanbase to a dangerous place. Apathy. Who really cares if it feels like the team doesn’t when we watch them? They have to show more fight than this. And to me, if I’m Kevin Warren, I’m walking to Ryan Poles office and telling him this. You have 2 more games to turn this around and show some life or I’m going to start firing people. You’re on the clock, Bears and I’m not talking about the draft.

Mark Carman

The Bears should have called Roger Goodell last Sunday and let him know that they were not going to make the trip to Kansas City. They would have been better off than putting this disaster on tape in the prime afternoon television window. Everything is on the table from here. First things first, I’d hire a defensive coordinator. Good news is there is a chance to get right with Denver headed to Soldier Field. Feels like a must win for the coaching staff.

Not an unexpected result in the win-loss column by any means, but the no-show in every aspect of the game is just too much to take. This rebuild looks over before it ever really started.
