Instant Reactions: Caleb Williams, Bears dominate Jaguars in London

Utter domination. Complementary football.

Caleb Williams took another terrific step forward, and the Bears offense and defense put away the Jacksonville Jaguars early in the second half.

Williams found Cole Kmet and Keenan Allen each twice for scores, and D’Andre Swift punched in the Bears’ fifth offensive touchdown from the 1-yard line.

It’s the first time the Bears have scored at least five offensive touchdowns in back-to-back games since 1956. It’s also the first time the Bears have scored 35+ in back-to-back weeks since 2013. One of those 2013 games? Josh McCown’s 348-yard, four-touchdown performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Mike Ditka Night at Soldier Field.

Long snapper Scott Daly left the game with an injury in the first quarter, forcing Cole Kmet into action as the reserve long snapper. The operation worked well with Cairo Santos hitting five extra points. The kicker had one field goal attempt blocked late in the fourth.

Despite bending and not breaking in the first quarter, the defense turned up the heat on Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars’ offense, sacking the quarterback four times and forcing two turnovers.

Bears head into the bye week at 4-2. Now the hope is that they can avoid losing momentum going to Washington to play Jayden Daniels and the Commanders in two weeks.

Bears win, 35-16!

You just had to be there to truly feel how electric it was inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the Bears’ dominant 35-16 victory over the Jaguars. Bears fans made London a second Soldier Field on Sunday. Caleb Williams tore apart the Jaguars defense with four touchdown passes, with a pair going to Cole Kmet and Keenan Allen. The defense also created two turnovers and did so despite missing key players in the secondary. Bears go into their Bye Week on a three game winning streak.

We have entered a new quadrant. The Bears winning seemingly easily, convincingly. Caleb Williams set a Bears rookie record with 4 touchdown passes and could have had 6. Offense was balanced again and the defense got turnovers and held another team under 20. 4-2 into the bye feels perfect with who knows how high up to come.

So it maybe seems like you shouldn’t judge a rookie quarterback after just one month? Caleb Williams made all the throws and then some on the international stage, thrilling all of us who made a memorable trip across the pond. Special thanks to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who played like the team that landed late in the week. Bears are 4-2 heading into a well deserved bye and I think we can safely say it’s going to be a fun season to watch. Get healthy, defense!

That’s 12 games in a row for the Bears holding opponents to 21 points or less. Caleb Williams took another great leap forward, and his first interception since Week 3 was just an unfortunate underthrown ball. The offense is finding its groove and the defense is legitimately terrifying to underperforming offenses like Jacksonville’s. 4-2 into the bye. Keenan Allen alive. Good things all around for the Bears in London.
