Things were looking great for the Chicago Bears after scoring 14 unanswered points in the third quarter. Unfortunately, the Detroit Lions fought their way back and ended up with the one-point win after Cairo Santos missed an extra point attempt.
Here are our instant reactions after the Bears’ 31-30 loss to the Lions …

The Bears needed to learn how to win, and they failed to do that against the Lions. The nine penalties for 86 yards, a missed extra point and pick-6 were too much for Chicago to overcome as they lost their third-straight game. Justin Fields scored on a 67-yard touchdown run and accounted for 314 yards of offense and four total touchdowns. Chicago will now have to go on the road to face the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday.

I just can’t believe that the Bears lost this game. I’m honestly baffled. Wow, just wow. Giving up 21 points in 10 minutes to the Lions was atrocious — even for this Bears’ defense. Okay – let’s just focus on the positives. Justin Fields continues to be impressive as ever with another record-setting performance. He’s incredible. Jack Sanborn continues to impress, too, as he led the team in total tackles, came away with multiple sacks, and had an interception that was called back due to a penalty. Speaking of penalties … don’t even get me started. I can’t even. I’m just going to focus on this Bears’ team and how fun they continue to be on offense.

Justin Fields did it again. So did the Bear defense. And penaltiesssss. The Bears had the game and then they didn’t. Cairo Santos missed an extra point to cost the Bears the game? That can’t be what I am writing. But here we are. An impossible loss to fall to 3-7.

Gut-wrenching loss today. The Bears had an opportunity to beat down a divisional opponent and instead handed the Lions a win. Justin Fields with a bad interception in a crucial moment and Cairo Santos missing a key extra point were the biggest reasons. Another big factor was the inconsistent calls from the zebras today. Bad call on Jaylon Johnson (illegal hands to the face) when it Jack Sanborn had a big interception. I’ve deemed this season a win/win and I stand by that. More amazing moments from Justin Fields and the offense. More obvious signs that the Bears need more help in a lot of areas. Especially on defense. Arrow still pointing up for our Bears but doesn’t take away the sting of this loss.
