Pigs in Puck: Chemistry leads to Samuel Savoie’s AHL early success

The second week of the American Hockey League (AHL) was unkind to the Rockford IceHogs. After an impressive opening-night win over the Grand Rapids Griffins last Saturday, the Chicago Blackhawks affiliate was swept by the Milwaukee Admirals in a home-and-home series. The Nashville Predators farm team outscored the IceHogs 11-5 over the weekend.
Friday night’s game at the BMO Center started fast for the IceHogs. They grabbed an early 1-0 lead off a Cole Guttman power-play goal. Austin Strand’s first goal of the season doubled the lead with less than five minutes to play in the first period.
