The stellar rookie season for Chicago Blackhawks prospect Frank Nazar continued on Wednesday afternoon with his selection as an AHL All-Star. Nazar, currently playing with the Blackhawks, was named to the AHL All-Star team for the AHL Central Division with 24 points in 21 AHL games this season.
Prior to being called up to the NHL in mid-December, Nazar led the IceHogs in goals (11) and points (24), led all AHL rookies in goals and points, and was in the Top Five of the league in both goals and points.
With the selection, Nazar helps the IceHogs go back-to-back with sending a rookie to the AHL All-Star game, joining Ethan Del Mastro with his selection last year. In the three years since the AHL reinstated their All-Star event (COVID restrictions affected 2021 nd 2022 events), Lukas Reichel, Del Mastro, and now Nazar, have represented the IceHogs.
While Nazar is currently playing with the Blackhawks, don’t be surprised if he is re-assigned to the IceHogs at the end of January to play in the All-Star event and play in games with Rockford while the NHL is on break during the Four Nations Faceoff tournament (February 9-21).
The AHL All-Star event takes place February 2-3 at Acrisure Arena, home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds in California.
