The Chicago Fire broke ground today on the future site of their new stadium at The 78! Alex Campbell was there and recaps the festivities on a historic day for soccer in Chicago. Media, stakeholders, fans and other guests heard from owner Joe Mansueto, club president Dave Baldwin, MLS Commissioner Don Garber and Mayor Brandon Johnson about what this means for the team, league and city.
Then, the Fire played some soccer! The opener in Houston saw the Fire only show up for the first half and lose as a result, but luckily they had the soft landing back at home of facing Montreal who were bad 11 v 11 and somehow worse after a Fire red card.
A new season and a new era are underway for the Chicago Fire!
