The Bears will take any advice when it comes to playing the Green Bay Packers. A team that has dominated Chicago for the better part of the last decade.
Although there are still a handful of players that are familiar with their NFC North opponent, first-year Bear Equanimeous St. Brown knows Green Bay better than most. He has played 37 games for the Packers in the last four seasons.
And for his fellow wide receivers, he shared some insight about Lambeau Field.
“I’ve been telling them that the grass is kind of slick there,” St. Brown said. “I know when I was there a lot of the teams that came to play us, they slipped a lot. So I’m telling them try to play with studs in your cleats. It’s nice grass but it’s slippery.”
In addition to using studs, St. Brown plans to go through his memory bank to expose and capitalize on the tendencies from the defensive backs he used to practice against. Maybe that will help him build off his Week 1 performance against the 49ers when he caught an 18-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter.
Again, the Bears will take all the help they can get to try and keep pace with Aaron Rodgers, who has thrown for 23 touchdowns and no interceptions in six games against the Bears on Sunday Night Football.
History also shows that the Packers under coach Matt LaFleur are 9-0 after a loss in the regular season. The odds are stacked against the Bears, which is why anywhere you look most have the Packers rebounding with a win this week.
“First of all I don’t really pay attention to all that media stuff,” St. Brown said. “But I’m not worried about what anyone else is saying. Just same with the 49ers game. We weren’t worried about what people were saying. It’s been going on, coaches brought it to our attention in OTAs with what people have been saying. Like I said, I don’t pay attention and I’m not worried about it.”
St. Brown also isn’t worried about returning to Green Bay as an opponent. Instead, he is looking forward to the opportunity of potentially stacking another victory.
“I mean I think it’s going to be a fun game. It’s going to be a fun experience to play against the team that you were with for four years,” St. Brown said. “Of course, I’m going to treat it like every other game. If anything I’m going to have a little more juice than usual. But we are going to try and win the game, and I’m going to do my best to do that, but, yeah, it’s going to be fun.”
