EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Eddie Jackson left Sunday’s game against the New York Jets with a non-contact injury he suffered late in the first half.
The injury occurred as Jets quarterback Mike White connected with Garrett Wilson on a 54-yard touchdown pass on the play. Wilson zoomed by Jackson as he lay in the secondary.
Jackson tried hobbling on one leg after the play before being helped by members of the Bears staff. The veteran safety then went into the medical tent and was eventually taken to the locker room on a cart.
The Bears announced shortly after that Jackson would not return due to a foot injury. Rookie Elijah Hicks replaced Jackson at safety.
The Bears secondary was already riddled by injury heading into this game. Rookies Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon were ruled inactive due to concussions.
After a few disappointing years, Jackson was having a resurgent 2022 prior to the injury with 77 total tackles, two forced fumbles and four interceptions.
