A wise man once told me that hockey games are played on a sheet of ice, not on a sheet of paper. That was the case on Thursday night as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Florida Panthers 3-1. The Blackhawks are now 2-0-0 against the two teams from last spring’s Stanley Cup Final.
The Blackhawks took full advantage of an early power play, as Teuvo Teravainen scored off a rebound. It was his fourth power-play goal of the season and the team’s first since Nov. 7 against the Dallas Stars. Midway through the second period, Pat Maroon sprung Craig Smith behind the defense, and he finished off the play with a backhand goal.
