As the Chicago White Sox keep hitting new lows – they’re at a season-worst 63 games below .500 after being swept in a two-game series with the crosstown-rival Cubs – their best player is badly scuffling.
Luis Robert Jr., who had an MVP-type performance last season, has looked nothing like that kind of player recently, with a .124/.155/.210 slash line over his last 20 games, a span during which he’s struck out a whopping 40 times. In eight games in August, he has just two hits compared to 15 strikeouts.
