Wednesday night, within minutes of The Athletic’s Britt Ghiroli reporting that Jerry Reinsdorf is open – and in “active discussions” – to sell the Chicago White Sox, the conversation quickly turned.
This was supposedly what White Sox fans wanted most in the world, if their chanting and banner-unfurling were any indication during the miserable, 121-loss 2024 season: their team in the hands of any owner not named Reinsdorf.
So where was the celebrating? Instead, there seemed to be a whole lot of fear.
