It might be a little bit overzealous to suggest Colson Montgomery will be the Chicago White Sox’ shortstop come Opening Day.
But don’t tell him that.
Asked whether he can envision himself as the team’s everyday shortstop in 2025, Montgomery didn’t leave much wiggle room.
“Yes,” he said Wednesday. “I do envision myself doing that, yeah.”

Montgomery could very well be the best shortstop in the White Sox’ spring camp come March, though even if things play out that way, it would figure to be as much a reflection of the team’s rebuilding and non-contending state as anything.
