Happy Monday, Cubs fans!
And welcome back to the CHGO Cubs Weekly newsletter.
The day is finally here, folks: Justin Steele is back in the rotation.
After a month-plus of recovery due to a left hamstring strain on Opening Day, the Cubs' ace lefty is slated to start the series opener against the Padres later tonight.
While it wasn't officially announced, Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Friday, ahead of Steele's bullpen Saturday, that "we're optimistic that he'll be the starter on Monday."
So, with no reported issues, I think we can say he is likely to take the mound.
"We've missed him for a month," Counsell said. "It'll be good to get him back going."
Not that the rot...
