DALLAS — The Chicago Cubs front office has been doing this offseason dance long enough to know they shouldn't think a deal is done before it actually is.
Both Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer and general manager Carter Hawkins put things in football terms to explain why they think that way.
