Cubs leave MLB's Winter Meetings with plenty of trade buzz

DALLAS — The Chicago Cubs front office has been doing this offseason dance long enough to know they shouldn't think a deal is done before it actually is.
Both Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer and general manager Carter Hawkins put things in football terms to explain why they think that way.
Hoyer said "it's not just about getting in the end zone. It's about literally, like, you have to kick the extra point before you feel like that six [points on a touchdown] is actually real," because he's "seen so many deals fall apart at the two-yard line."
