How Matthew Boyd fits into the Cubs' rotation picture

Going into the offseason, bolstering the pitching staff seemed to be a priority for the Chicago Cubs. Adding to the rotation — a group that finished last season sixth in ERA (3.77) among big league rotations — was a clear way to do that.
It looks like the Cubs have done just that. As first reported by the New York Post's Jon Heyman early Monday morning, left-handed starter Matthew Boyd has reportedly agreed to a deal to move to the North Side.
According to Heyman, Boyd is set to make $29 million over the next two seasons (with incentives that could bump it up to $30 million).
