I don't know what to make of this Chicago Cubs team. It's like they take a step forward one game, and then they take a step (or two) back the next game.
They took two of three from the San Francisco Giants during the week to win their first series of three or more games in over a month. Then they went out and dropped two of three to the New York Mets over the weekend. Those teams, along with the St. Louis Cardinals — against whom they also dropped two of three to open the homestand — are teams they'll be fighting in the National League wild card race all summer.
The Cubs had the chance to put some distance between them over the last nine games, but they instead still sit...
