Eli Morgan is not necessarily the acquisition I expected the Cubs to make (who can predict what will happen on the reliever trade market?), but it is the kind of move I felt president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer would look at heading into this offseason.
Hoyer knew he had to bolster the bullpen this winter. He felt he didn't bring in enough depth to handle the early-season issues that eventually arose in the 'pen. He admitted as much at his end-of-season press conference.
