Entering the season with playoff aspirations, they stumbled to a 5-13 record out of the gate. Trade rumors swirled around Zach LaVine before December even began. Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Artūras Karnišovas met with traveling media in Boston ahead of the team's final NBA Cup (then called the In-Season Tournament) game against the Celtics, where he vowed to take accountability for the team’s poor play.
“We see what everyone is seeing and are just as frustrated,” Karnišovas said “We’re disappointed, but I’m not running from it. It’s my responsibility.”
