The Chicago Bears reportedly added Jennifer King to their coaching staff on Tuesday night, making her the first female coach in the team’s history.
NFL Network’s Bridget Condon was first to report the news.
According to Condon, “King will join the Bears as an offensive assistant working with the running backs.”
Prior to joining the Bears, King spent the last three seasons with the Commanders and held the title as an assistant running backs coach. She also coached the National team running backs during the Senior Bowl in 2023.
In Mobile, Ala., King worked with running back Roschon Johnson — who the Bears drafted in the fourth round.
Last season, former Bears running backs coach David Walker was fired due to his behavior in the workplace. Omar Young took over the position following Walker’s departure, but Young was relieved of his duties along with other offensive coaches in January.
King will join running backs coach Chad Morton as the two work with a Bears running back room that ended the 2023 season as the No. 2 team in the NFL in rushing.
