If you were unhappy with how Gavin Sheets performed at the plate in 2023, imagine how Gavin Sheets felt.
“I was obviously super frustrated with last year, felt like my swing wasn’t consistent, I wasn’t confident,” Sheets said in an interview with CHGO. “It just felt like I was never myself.”
Plenty of folks felt they had Sheets figured out after a poor campaign last season in which the supposed lefty slugger finished with a batting average just a hair over the Mendoza Line and an OPS below .600. That homer he hit in the playoffs in 2021? An outlier rather than an example of a regular contribution.
