CHGO Staff Predictions: Chicago Bears vs. Dallas Cowboys

Can the Chicago Bears do it again?

Less than one week ago, Justin Fields, Matt Eberflus and Co. flew east as 8.5-point underdogs and came back with a shocking 33-14 win over the New England Patriots.

This weekend, the same team will head down to Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys, who have been installed as 9.5-point favorites.

The Bears figure to face a few big challenges, most of them on the Cowboys’ ferocious defense. But the Patriots win also showed that they’re still capable of pulling out a surprise. Can the team shock the world again?

Will DeWitt (3-4) — Cowboys 21, Bears 20

Let me be perfectly clear: The Bears can definitely win this game if they come out with the same level of intensity and focus they displayed in New England. I have zero doubts about this. However, I’m trying to learn from the past. And that lesson is that there’s a strong chance of regression on Sunday. The Bears were able to stop the run and put up points last week — two things we haven’t really seen so far this season. If they can’t accomplish those feats this week, they’ll most definitely lose to Dallas. I’ll say they lose a close one, even if my heart is daring me to pick the Bears to win.

Mark Carman (4-3) — Cowboys 27, Bears 16

As much as I want to pick the Bears to back up their most impressive win in forever I am going with human nature taking a step back against a playoff-caliber Dallas football team. Combine the short week with the Robert Quinn trade and an odd comment from Luke Getsy about how the offense was not added on to before the Patriots game and I think the Bears have too much to overcome. Too much passing leads to a costly turnover and the Bears struggle to contain the Cowboys run attack with Dak also too comfortable in the pocket.

Greg Braggs, Jr. (5-2) — Cowboys 26, Bears 24

Bears are getting hard to pick week to week lately, aren’t they? I guess that’s a good thing considering two weeks ago I saw this game as a definite loss. Now? I can’t wait to watch this matchup on Sunday!! Can Fields keep this going?! Can the defense keep turning the ball over?! Can the Bears win two tough road games in a row? I’m gonna say no, unfortunately. Cowboys are Super Bowl contenders and the Bears lost depth on the defensive and offensive lines since Monday. Bears fall at the last second to a game winning field goal. But Bears still look impressive.

Adam Hoge (2-5) — Cowboys 19, Bears 16

I’m surprised the Bears are 9.5-point underdogs and think it’s another spread you can probably take advantage of. At this point, we know this team will fight to stay in games. That said, sometimes mismatches are too much to overcome. The Cowboys defense is legitimately good and it’s hard to see how the Bears’ offensive line will be able to protect Justin Fields all game. We saw what Washington’s talented front did to the Bears. I think this will be a game in which Fields continues to make strides, but too many drives will end in field goals and the quarterback’s fumble luck (11 fumbles, only one lost) runs out.

Nicholas Moreano (2-5) — Bears 27, Cowboys 24

The Bears may have discovered something in the designed runs with Justin Fields. The defense is creating turnovers. The kicker doesn’t miss. Bears keep their momentum going and pull off the upset in Dallas.

Carmen Vitali (4-3) — Cowboys 27, Bears 13

Fields and the Bears’ offense don’t have the element of surprise against perhaps the best defense in the league, though the Cowboys’ efforts against the run have been lacking. Dallas is out one Ezekiel Elliott but Tony Pollard will end up being a test to see if Chicago’s run defense has actually improved or not. In the end, I think Dak Prescott shakes off whatever remaining rust he had and the Dallas pass rush is too much for Chicago to get anything substantial going on offense.

Corey Wootton (4-3) — Bears 28, Cowboys 20

They shock the world in Jerry World! This past win against the Patriots gave the Bears confidence they can play a complete game. Dak isn’t 100 percent and it showed last week. Bears will knock out the run and get some of these designed blitzes with Roquan and Brisker to help aid the lack of pressure. Getsy will follow up with aanother great play-calling day to take the pressure off the offensive line and Justin fFelds.

Kevin Kaduk (4-3) — Bears 23, Cowboys 20

Eh, what the hell? This Bears season has been such a roller coaster that I’m just going to lean into it and just enjoy all the twists and turns. The Cowboys front seven will provide plenty of challenge, but I think the Bears rushing attack can balance things out. I’m also not sold on the Cowboys offense. Smart and steady football wins the day here.

Jake Flannigan (4-3)  —  Bears 26, Cowboys 24

Baby lock the door and turn the lights down low. Da Bears are going to put on a show. ‘America’s Team’ will make things difficult at times for Fields, but QB1 will get plenty of support for a complete team win in Dallas.
