CHGO staff predictions: 49ers vs. Bears

Kevin Kaduk Avatar

After a long offseason, Week 1 is finally here! But can the Chicago Bears pull off an opening stunner against the San Francisco 49ers? The CHGO Bears crew is split on the issue.

Will DeWitt — Bears 24, 49ers 20

The Bears’ defense comes out firing on all cylinders and forces Trey Lance into costly mistakes the Bears capitalize on. Complimentary football, scoring off takeaways and disciplined play allow the Bears to pull off the Week 1 upset.

Mark Carman — 49ers 21, Bears 19

Justin Fields throws two touchdown passes while also being picked off once and is sacked four times in a heartbreaking loss that shows promise for the season ahead.

Greg Braggs, Jr. — Bears 20 , 49ers 17

In what could be a rainy day at Soldier Field, I’m keeping the score low and our hopes high! Justin Fields leads the Bears down for a game-winning FG in the final minute!

Adam Hoge — 49ers 24, Bears 23

Fans will feel good about the team’s performance, but Robbie Gould walks it off on the best grass he’s ever seen at Soldier Field.

Nicholas Moreano — 49ers 23, Bears 20

This game will be closer than most people realize. The 49ers get the win though because of the team’s ability to consistently apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Carmen Vitali — 49ers 23, Bears 17

I want the Bears to come out of the gate running but with all of the uncertainty on the offensive line and with how good the 49ers pass rush is, I just can’t do it — yet. I think it gets better with time and think the Bears’ O-line could end up being a strength. But San Francisco was one play away from its second Super Bowl in three years last season and I don’t think they’re going to drop off dramatically with Trey Lance under center. Tough luck in Week 1 for the Bears.

Corey Wootton — Bears 21, 49ers 10

It all comes down to the quarterback position. Trey Lance has struggled this preseason. The Bears defense is going to stop the run. Soldier Field is going to be rocking. The Monsters of the Midway are back, baby!

Kevin Kaduk — 49ers 16, Bears 13

Both sides of the Bears acquit themselves well after an interesting offseason, but the 49ers’ front seven proves to be too much in sloppy conditions at Soldier Field.

Jake Flannigan  —  Bears 24, 49ers 23

Montgomery goes over 100 yards rushing behind Borom and Jenkins to find the end zone, while Mooney and Kmet channel country music star Travis Tritt and give the San Francisco secondary T-R-O-U-B-L-E. It’s a great day to be alive…and to be a Bears fan!
