The Cubs are 41 games into 2024, so we're just past the quarter mark of the season. The team is 24-17, half a game out of the first place in the National League Central and in the second NL wild card position.
Even with all the adversity this group has faced through the first month-and-a-half — like 13 different players, including some of the Cubs' key contributors, spending time on the injured list — they've put themselves in a real contending position. All things considered, this has been a pretty good start to the year for a Cubs team hoping to make the playoffs after a full, 162-game season for the first time since 2018.
