CHICAGO – Case Keenum had a freakin’ blast – with everything.
The three practices and walk-throughs during the week.
The many conversations with coach Ben Johnson.
The quarterback meeting at the hotel the night before the game.
The warmup he had on the field.
The introduction he received at Soldier Field with the starters.
And, of course, all the plays he made during the Bears’ 27-7 throttling of the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
All of it was freakin’ fun for Keenum – the Bears’ 38-year-old, third-string quarterback who last started a game more than 1,000 days ago and considered retirement before Johnson called to recruit him last year.
“This is special,” he said. “This is really special. I don’t know if I’ll be able to put it into words tonight.”
