The Bulls got busy a few days early.
With media day marking the official start of the 2026-27 season on Monday, executive vice president of basketball operations Bryson Graham made one final tweak before opening things up for training camp, CHGO confirmed.
The Bulls sent Rob Dillingham to the Charlotte Hornets for Buddy Hield and cash — used to offset the $2.7 million difference between Dillingham and Hield’s contracts — first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Chicago acquired Dillingham during their 2026 trade deadline fire sale. The former eighth overall pick had some moments of offensive intrigue, but ultimately didn’t fit into the plans as a smaller guard who lacked the defensive traits to crack the rotation.
On the other hand, Hield is an all-time great three-point marksman who adds some veteran leadership to a young locker room in desperate need of both.
