Following last season, I wrote that after three long years, it was time for the Chicago Bulls to get off the treadmill of mediocrity.
A year later, following their 122-102 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in their regular-season finale, they complete the year with the exact same record as the previous year.
39-43.
Ninth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Matching up with the Miami Heat in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
It probably should have been more obvious. The Bulls have resisted bottoming out ever since Arturas Karnisovas took over as Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations in 2020. Even when it was the most logical next step.
