Connor Bedard took the ice as Chicago Blackhawks captain at the United Center for the first time in his career last night. He returned from offseason shoulder surgery about a month early. After a 1-5-0 start, his presence in the lineup was a sight for sore eyes.
“I’m pumped,” Bedard said after Tuesday’s morning skate. “It’s crazy that it’s only been six games, but when you camp and preseason, it feels like a lot longer. To be back with the guys and get to do what I love, it’s exciting.”
At least for one night, everything felt right for the Blackhawks as they beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3. Teuvo Teravainen scored the game’s opening goal just 28 seconds in, then scored the game-winner late with a simple shot off the left boards that fooled goaltender Sergei Murashov.
