For much of Sunday afternoon, the Chicago Blackhawks looked like they were following the formula: score first, take the lead into the third period, then lose. They did all that except the losing part, as they found a way to finish off the New York Islanders 5-3.
Scoring first has been the norm for the Blackhawks season, and they did it again on Sunday. Ilya Mikheyev opened the scoring nine minutes into the first period after Teuvo Teravainen hit him with a beautiful pass from below the goal line.
