Monday morning, the Chicago Blackhawks announced they’d recalled 2024 second-overall pick Artyom Levshunov from Rockford but added an interesting caveat. He won’t play in any games.
“With the AHL currently in their All-Star break, we felt this would be a good opportunity for Arty’s development to come and get some NHL-level practice experience, something he was not able to do during training camp this season due to injury,” GM Kyle Davidson said in a statement. “While we don’t expect him to see any game action during his recall, we’re confident the experience will be a positive one for Arty as he continues on his development path.”
Levshunov was injured after taking a shot off his right foot in September and was unable to participate in any on-ice training camp or preseason action. He made his pro hockey debut on October 26th with the IceHogs.
In 38 games with Rockford this season, Levshunov has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points.
Louis Crevier to IR
The team also announced defenseman Louis Crevier was placed on injured reserve (concussion protocol) retroactive to February 1st. Crevier was injured in the Blackhawks’ 5-1 loss to the Florida Panthers on Saturday.
