Winning the NHL Draft lottery was the goal of the 2022-23 season for the Chicago Blackhawks. Being as bad as possible to land the best odds at winning the draft was the main goal for GM Kyle Davidson, and while the team didn't end up with the highest odds to win the lottery, finishing third-to-last in the league, the lottery balls were in the Blackhawks' favor, and they landed Connor Bedard.
For the 2023-24 season, the ultimate goal was not to win the draft lottery again. On paper, the Blackhawks came into this season with a more balanced and competitive roster than last season.
