There has been some excitement and optimism since Anders Sorensen was named the Chicago Blackhawks’ interim head coach and installed his 2-1-2 forechecking system. However, the same bad habits that Luke Richardson fired led to a 5-4 loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday night. Failed zone clears, structural breakdowns and mental lapses did them in once again.
Connor Bedard got the Blackhawks on the board first with a power-play goal late in the first period to extend his point streak to three games. He showed off his creativity and release, which made him the number one overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
