The Blackhawks lost one of their most valuable players in Wednesday night’s game vs the Edmonton Oilers. Jason Dickinson fell awkwardly on his left leg early in the second period and didn’t return to the game.
Dickinson, Chicago’s most reliable defensive forward and alternate captain, has seven goals and nine assists in 52 games for the Blackhawks this season.
After the game, Dickinson was seen leaving the building with a walking boot on his left leg, and interim head coach Anders Sörensen said, “It doesn’t look good.”
UPDATED 3:40 pm Thursday: After practice, Sörensen said Dickinson suffered a high-ankle sprain and will miss at least Chicago’s next two games. The timing of the injury may be fortuitous for the Hawks, as the Four Nations Tournament begins next week, and the team will have two weeks off.
Dickinson will undergo extra imaging, which should give an even clearer outlook on how much time he might miss beyond this weekend’s games.
