CHICAGO — Tyson Bagent has a special request: please stop asking him about his family and those close to him – even if “Take Me Home, Country Roads” is playing after a win.
“Shout out to Martinsburg, West Virginia,” Bagent said. “Don’t ask me questions like this. I already told you I will start crying, so don’t do this again.”
He was kidding, of course.
“It’s extremely humbling,” he said. “It’s an amazing experience. I really can’t thank enough people. I’m only here because of those that were around me growing up and those who are around me today. So it meant the world to be able to hear a song like that – and it’s really a full-circle moment.”
After Sunday’s 23-12 win over the New York Jets, Bagent held court in the home-team press conference room in Soldier Field wearing a dark green sweatsuit and a black baseball cap with two words on the front: “Stay ready.”
