Thirty-four first downs. A Bears franchise record. Ben Johnson, come on down.
That is now three wins with three different quarterbacks to start the 2026 season 3-1. If there wasn’t a rainstorm in Week 2, I think it is safe to say the Bears would be sitting at a perfect 4-0.
Quarterback Tyson Bagent was efficient. Running back Kyle Monangai was powerful. The Bears defense is really coming together quicker than anyone thought possible. Optimism is flowing all the way from Soldier Field up to Green Bay, Wis., where the Bears stop next.
On to Week 5. On to the grades.
Quarterback: B
Tyson Bagent did the job Ben Johnson asked him to do — “play point guard.” Bagent completed 25-0f-34 passes for 268 yards in his first start since Nov. 10, 2023. Bagent told CHGO that we should “erase the whole stint from your memory” when he was on the field his rookie year. “I didn’t know anything that was going on.”
Bagent is learning from the master Ben Johnson now, and one can only assume he will do that much better next week in Green Bay if Caleb Williams cannot play against the Packers.
