I’m sick of the Bears over paying for average players under the Poles regime. Year over year, we’re up against the salary cap with average players. We have a QB on a rookie deal and they are not better right now than they were last year. The window will soon close as they have to pay Caleb, if they don’t do it now, they never will.

This is the 1st year the cap has been tight, but it’s not even impossibly tight.

Seems like Caleb would agree with Jahns!

I say “no”. If you think about it, when has any team that makes a huge trade or FA signing won a championship because of it? The closest I can come up with is Brady in Tampa for one season and no matter the hype, Crosby will not have the same effect that the GOAT QB had on that team. Outside of that, the money that you tie up for that one player over the next few years leaves a lot of other holes in your roster. The Bears were very close last season but this year’s roster will be entirely different, it will not be just adding Crosby to what we had last season. Until teams can build a solid roster, you don’t win championships. This isn’t just about the draft capital you’d have to give up, it’s more importantly about what it does to your salary cap for the next couple of years and not being able to fill holes that will inevitably come up.
Think of this, and I know the salary cap stuff is different now but for those who have been around long enough, we had the greatest player in NFL history, in my opinion for years and couldn’t win anything because we didn’t have the right team around him. Walter Payton didn’t win a championship until Jim Finks came in and put together the best roster possible. Solid “NO” for me on Crosby.
