Really good comparison from Hoge regarding the 2023 Broncos. Johnson being out for the year is such a killer though. You hope Steven and Wright improve, but they are both not NFL caliber starting CBs. Even the Smith injury is brutal too, he was better than both of them.

At least if you had JJ, and Gordon comes back, you have a legit secondary in which would allow you to start mixing in different blitzes to generate pressure. That is how Dennis Allen was so good with New Orleans when he had a prime Marshon Lattimore, but his dline was just average.

I fully believe in this staff though. Just not sure the defense personnel is good enough

With Gordon out, I’m just waiting for the inevitable other shoe to drop: Brisker. We all know he can’t stay healthy, just like Gordon. There’s just no hiding from a lack of talent and that’s what Poles’ picks have produced, a roster of very mid players. But of course, he’s still convinced of his own genius so I won’t be surprised to see more punters picked in the 4th round, or more flyers taken in the 3rd round on injured linemen from Ivy League schools. What a clown.
