I get that Simmons is one of the best DT’s if not the best in the league and he clearly will have impacts on the whole defense including the secondary and I’m thrilled with the trade. BUT, I don’t really get the comment that everyone is making that because he will be double teamed, the other DL’s will be single teamed and therefore be more impactful. Before Simmons, if we were rushing 4, one of those guys would be double teamed (we were rushing 4 vs 5) so the others sere single teamed. Why didn’t they produce then?

Because the guy that was most likely to get there was double teamed. (Sweat or Booker usually). With Simmons eating the double team, that guy is free. And they did produce. Booker has 4 sacks and a bunch of pressures. Sweat was producing before his suspension as well. So was Dayo – we’re top 3rd in team sacks after all.
