I understand the comparisons with Drake Maye are going to happen. It’s not totally unwarranted. But it’s easy to pick out the QB with the best numbers to compare Williams with. But if the Bears hadn’t drafted Williams, Jayden Daniels was widely considered the next best QB. People did the same thing with Trubisky. It’s easy look at Mahomes and be mad the Bears didn’t draft him. But again, in that draft, if the Bears hadn’t drafted Trubisky, they probably would have drafted Deshaun Watson.

I agree but I think what will always be the most important part of the comparisons whether it’s Maye, Daniels, or Nix, is that Poles apparently never actually considered any of them and didn’t work any of them out nor bring them in for interviews. If that is true, it might eventually cost him his job, extension or not.
