ATLANTA – The energy and emotion that was pouring out of quarterback Caleb Williams in his first game back in nearly a full month was captured by Fox’s broadcast after the Bears’ first touchdown.
He rolled to his right to buy time and fired a pass through traffic to tight end Colston Loveland just inside the end zone for a 14-yard score to cap the Bears’ opening possession.
Then came the celebration – the jubilance, the swagger – on the sideline. Williams’ eyes were ablaze and locked on defensive end Austin Booker. His voice clearly came with fire.
The broadcast caught it all: QB1 was back.
“Obviously, I was super juiced up trying to get back out here,” he said.
Williams tried his best to be stoic.
“It’s an emotional game,” Williams said. “(It’s) letting the emotions fly but also when it’s time to be in control, when it’s time to lock in (and) look the guys in the eyes, they’re able to feel your control over yourself, your control in the huddle and then from there we can go and execute. I think I did a solid job of that today.”
