Really nice write up Patrick. My belief is that they will cut Tremaine Edmunds to free up that money, and then they will most likely restructure DJ’s deal rather than Montez’s deal because DJ is a year younger, and they don’t need to pay a WR aside from him for another two years (though they could discuss extension with Rome after 2026). Plus it would save more money restructuring DJ’s deal than Montez, and Montez’s deal becomes very cuttable after 2026, along with Dayo and Grady’s deal, which would free up nearly $50m going into 2027.

Whatever people think of Poles as a GM, I think he’s done a pretty good job at managing the books and keeping things flexible.

My meatball take is DJ Moore just made arguably the two most important catches in the history of the franchise and the Bears shouldn’t even consider trading him.

Trading for Crosby would be a mistake. Keep the draft capital and draft guys who can be full-time starters 1-2 years from now to replace Sweat, Swift, Kmet, et. al.
