The Bears will spend Monday inside Halas Hall.
It’s time to debate where everyone fits on the roster and the depth chart.
It’s time to plan for cuts.
“This discussion – player day off on Monday – with the personnel staff, that’ll be big for us – to make sure we’re all aligned and we see it all the same way,” coach Ben Johnson said after the Bears’ 27-9 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium in the preseason on Saturday night. “And then anybody that could go either way, it’ll be a big week for them as well.”
The days for players to impress Johnson, general manager Ryan Poles and their respective staffs are dwindling. Training camp is now limited to a mere four days: practice on Tuesday, a condensed travel day on Wednesday, the joint practice with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday and then the preseason game on Saturday.
On Sunday, the roster will be trimmed to 53 players.
It’s never final. Several injuries have changed positions. The roster is always in flux. The expanded practice squad of 17 players helps. And Poles’ personnel department will be scouring roster cuts around the league for potential additions, too.
Here’s our latest roster projection – noting changes from the first exercise before camp.

Of this 53-man group, who’s the first to get cut when they need to add someone before week 1?
I’m not sure they “need” a tenth OL, sixth WR or fourth RB.
