The Bears went to Green Bay looking to deliver a knockout blow to their division rival. Instead, they took the punches, early and often.
Now, they head into a crucial stretch beat up, while also dealing with a suspension to a key defensive player.
Here are my “10 Bears Things” following the Bears’ embarrassing 31-7 loss to the Packers:
1. Who is this team? The volatility has been wild, leaving the answer unclear.
The NFL season can be quite the roller coaster, but the Bears have been on one of the wilder rides in the first five weeks. From scoring 59 points in Week 1 to scoring just three in Week 2, beating the Eagles with Case Keenum in Week 3, putting up nearly 500 yards of offense against the Jets in Week 4, before laying an egg in Green Bay, it’s hard to figure out this team so far.
Ben Johnson seems to agree, telling reporters on Monday that he opened up his computer to rewatch the first five games in an attempt to find answers. And he’s clearly not satisfied with simply blaming Caleb Williams’ injury.

Number 6 is absolute nonsense. The Packers respected the Bears run game, they absolutely did not respect Bagent because they had 0 fear he would throw the ball further than 15 yards in the air. Go back and watch every single inside/wide zone run. Defensive ends were crashing down, selling out for the run because they knew Bagent couldn’t do much damage running naked PA’s off it (and they were right).
If Caleb plays we will see the difference this Sunday. There will be a lot of shot plays called because I bet Atlanta will try to replicate what GB did, basically trying to take away the 10-15 yard in breakers and crossers.
Sunday offensively was quite literally all about how bad Bagent was. Nothing more.
