I certainly understand why some fans are frustrated that Caleb Williams and the starters aren’t playing Thursday night in the Hall of Fame Game. Everyone is excited to see Caleb play football. But in reality, he was never going to play more than a handful of snaps anyway.
The real benefit of playing in the Hall Of Fame Game is the extra week of practices that come with it, and the Bears will still hold a practice today at Halas Hall so no reps are wasted for Caleb & Co. While the starters get those reps on one field, the players playing in the game — like backup quarterback Tyson Bagent — will have a walk-through on a different field to get ready for Canton.
