The Bears are preparing to be without All-Pro cornerback Jaylon Johnson for an indefinite period of time after he was sidelined against the Detroit Lions by what coach Ben Johnson described as a “new injury” with his groin.
“We’re still gathering some information on that,” Bears coach Ben Johnson said Monday. “It’s a new injury, it’s not related to what he had before. So we’re still trying to gather a little bit more information before we know for sure.”
Johnson has missed 15 games due to injury since entering the league in 2020. Last season marked the first time in his career that he had appeared in every game of the season.
Johnson missed all of training camp due to an unrelated groin injury he suffered toward the end of the offseason.
“In my last week of training, in one of my last days, I popped my adductor off my pelvic bone,” Johnson said in a recent appearance on The Pivot podcast. “When I immediately did it, I felt it and was like, ‘nah, this ain’t right’ and I was telling my wife, ‘nah, I think this is kind of bad.'”
