Nobody was more dejected after Monday’s loss to the Colorado Avalanche than Frank Nazar. His postgame demeanor showed serious disappointment and frustration after another tick in the loss column.
“It’s not good,” he said. “You don’t want to be where we’re at right now. We want to be great for the city and do it for each other. We’re working towards that goal throughout these last couple of games and continuing to grow and give our effort.”
The Chicago Blackhawks had higher expectations entering the season, and Nazar taking a step in his development was a factor. The expectations haven’t been met, and Nazar has yet to fill the scoresheet.
While he played well for much of the early season, he entered Wednesday’s game against the Florida Panthers with only three goals and five points in 13 games. His lack of production isn’t due to a lack of effort. Per Natural Stat Trick, he has the best Corsi for percentage (CF%) on the team among those who have played at least five games, at 49.83. He is sixth in individual scoring chance at both 5-on-5 and all strengths, with 19 and 30, respectively. He ranks fifth in 5-on-5 high-danger scoring chances, and his 14 high-danger scoring chances at all strengths are the third-most.
