LAKE FOREST, Ill. – When it comes to playing next to guard Jonah Jackson, right tackle Darnell Wright doesn’t have many questions or concerns.
“He’s a very, very good player,” Wright said.
Playing together for more than a season, Jackson has become the standard in which Wright is chasing himself as a player.
“When I think of trying to be great, honestly, I’m competing with Jonah,” Wright said. “And, like hell, I probably got a lot of catching up to do.”
But Wright does have one lingering question about Jackson off the field – an important one that he hoped the author of this story would get to the bottom of through some essential, behind-the-scenes reporting.
“He’s always gotta take a s— for some reason,” Wright told CHGO. “Ask him about that. Like, why do you always gotta use the bathroom? I don’t know what he’s eating at night.”
Make no mistake about it: this is a real thing at Halas Hall – Jackson’s routine visits to the porcelain throne – that’s worth discussing when it comes to the inner workings of arguably the best offensive line in the NFL.
“He’s always got to use the bathroom,” Wright said. “It seems like right when we’re getting into meetings, so be asking him about that.”
Why is this important for the Bears?
“On the O line,” Wright said, “he is really like the one that’s really getting s— going.”

The same thing was asked about Winston Churchill in the wartime bunker in London. He spent an inordinately long time in the loo. It caused some concern among the high-ranking people who shared the bunker. Winston’s loo, his own private loo, was–unbeknownst to anyone–where secret underwater Atlantic cables were hooked up to Washington and President Roosevelt: Churchill’s private loo was a communications center for the war. I submit that the Jackson Halas Hall bathroom also has a secret, highly important function. We simply don’t know what Jonah’s secret mission is, and we may never know. I personally suspect, however, that he’s plotting with Harry Potter to conjure the Bears a Super Bowl victory. (This is not as far-fetched a possibility as Carm being a decent tennis player, btw.)

Has an offensive lineman ever worn #2?
