It’s seemingly never too early to wind up the rumor mill.
And with the Chicago Blackhawks off to a rough start (3-8-0 in their first 11 games), plenty of questions have begun to circle around the organization: How do you fix this team? Is it actually broken? Do you fire the coach? Is general manager Kyle Davidson the problem? Could a trade help?
Man, I’m starting to sound like The Sun-Times’ Ben Pope this week.
That last question is ever-present in an NHL season, and as teams with high expectations of themselves start poorly, they start to look around the league, maybe even more so, to find solutions to possible roster problems.
Along with Blackhawks fans asking if a trade could fix the start to the season, the Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly asking the same questions.
According to Anthony Di Marco of the Daily Faceoff, the Flyers are looking for help down the middle to the tune of a legitimate top-six center. Recently, Flyers President of Hockey Operations Keith Jones was in attendance for the Blackhawks-Canadiens game on Friday, October 23, and as Di Marco puts it, the Flyers have their eyes on two Blackhawks center men.
